JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's soccer team lost at home to Trevecca Nazarene University 5-2 Thursday evening. This was the season opener for both teams.
Trevecca outshot Union 13 to 12, after jumping out to a 6-0 advantage in shots early. Trevecca jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 17 minutes of play.
Victoria Lucido scored Union's first goal in the 31st minute, followed by another goal from TNU to put the halftime scored at 4-1. Union cut the deficit to 4-2 in the 65th minute when Anna Barkey scored the Lady Bulldog's second goal of the game.
Union was led by Barkey with four shots, Lucido with three shots, and Madison Studstill with three shots.
Anna Venckus had three saves in the game. Trevecca's Laura McDermott had four saves.
Up next for Union is University of Tennessee at Martin at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 8th in Martin, Tenn.
