MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Union University softball team split the double-header against Christian Brothers University Saturday. CBU won the first game of the series on Saturday, 5-6 while Union took the second game 7-4. Union won the Sunday game 11-0 (5). The Lady Bulldogs finish their season 18-30 on the season and 9-23 in the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Bucs are now 10-39 overall and 2-31 in conference.
The Lady Bucs jumped on the board in the first inning after scoring two runs. Union responded with a run of their own in the second inning by an RBI from 
Parker Davis. In the third inning, 
Samantha McDaniel hit a home run over the left field fence to tie the ball game at 2-2. The fourth inning was a big inning for Union after an error by Christian Brothers' second baseman allowed two runs to score. A single to right field for McDaniel scored another run and 
Gabby Morris followed with a single of her own that scored two more runs for Union going up 7-2. Christian Brothers scored a run in the fifth and the sixth inning to end the ball game, 7-4 Union.
Union had five batters with two hits each, McDaniel and Morris led with two RBI each. 
Parker Davis tossed a complete game after pitching 7.0 innings giving up 10 hits and four runs with one walk and five strikeouts.
Union lit up the score board on Sunday starting in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly from Barnette to score the first run. A double from 
Peyton Mathis scored the second run of the fourth. McDaniel hit a RBI doubled to right center to start the fifth inning that was followed by a sacrifice fly from 
Kristen Pickens to score another run. Morris finished the fifth with a RBI single. The Lady Bulldogs were on fire in the seventh inning starting with a RBI single from Barnette. A dropped ball from Christian Brothers' left fielder allowed another run to score and a RBI single from Bennett put the Lady Bulldogs up 8-0. 
Sarah Smith followed with a 2-run single to left center field. Davis singled down the right field line to score Union's last run of the ball game.
Union was led by Morris with three hits and one RBI. Smith, Barnette, and Mathis each had two RBI. Morris shutout the Lady Bucs in seven innings for the win. She gave up five hits and five strikeouts.
Union scored first in game one on Saturday with a RBI double from Barnette. Morris hit a 2-run double to start the third inning that was followed by an RBI single from Barnette. Christian Brothers scored a run in the bottom of the fourth. Union scored their last run in the fifth inning. CBU scored two more runs in the bottom of the frame to come within one run of the Lady Bulldogs. A triple from CBU in the sixth scored two more runs to win 6-5.
Union was led by Morris with three hits and three RBI. Morris tossed a complete game for the Lady Bulldogs pitching 6.0 innings giving up nine hits and six runs with four walks and five strikeouts.
