ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Union University baseball team was defeated at Henderson State University, 9-8, Tuesday afternoon. Union dropped to 5-13, while Henderson State improved to 12-6. 

Caleb DeMarigny started the Bulldogs hitting off with a triple that brought in Zane Phillips in the top of the second. Charlie Ellis singled out to left field, driving in DeMarigny. Henderson State took the lead in the bottom of the third inning with three runs. Phillips scored to tie it up for Union after a RBI from Ellis. Ellis then scored off of an RBI from Chase Diggs, giving Union back the lead at 4-3. Henderson State tied it up with a home run in the bottom of the fourth. Union scored two runs in the top of the fifth from Nolen Milton and Spencer Schultz. Union took an 8-4 lead in the top of the seventh when Phillips and Ellis scored. Henderson State scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Henderson scored again in the bottom of the eighth to bring the Reddies to within one of the Bulldogs. Then, with two outs and the bases loaded, Henderson State scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a two-RBI single from Joe Myers to win 9-8. 

Kory Pollard tossed five innings with four earned runs, three strikeouts, and one walk. Sam McMillin came in and pitched 1.1 innings with two earned runs and one strikeout. Brady Cook (0-2) took the loss for Union pitching the final 2.1 innings with three earned runs, four walks, and one strikeout. Union had 13 hits. Ellis led with three hits and three RBIs. 

Up next for Union is a three game series at the University of Montevallo starting Saturday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
