RUSSELLVILLSE, Ark. - Union University senior Chelsey Shumpert was named the D2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) first team All-American. The D2CCA is voted on by sports information directors from the NCAA Division II level. 

Shumpert, a 5-foot-5 senior guard from Paducah, Ky., led her Lady Bulldogs to the DII National Semifinals for the first time in program history. She ranked fourth in the country in scoring at 24.1 points per game and second with 107 3-point field goals. 

Shumpert adds this honor to an already lengthy list of postseason awards. The senior was also named GSC Player of the Year, first team All-GSC, GSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, South Region Tournament Most Outstanding Player, D2CCA South Region Player of the year, D2CCA first team All-South Region, and WBCA All-American.

The senior also became Union's single season record holder for points in a season with her 24 points in Union Elite Eight win over Carson-Newman. She passed 835 points scored by Stephanie Clark in 2004-05. 

Union plays in the NCAA D2 Final Four Wednesday night at 6 p.m. central time versus Central Missouri for a spot in the national title game Friday at 7 p.m. The NCAA D2 Elite Eight Tournament is being played at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
