Before Union
Shumpert transferred to Union from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she played three years of basketball. Shumpert helped lead her team to three Southern Conference Championships. She was named first team all-conference twice and second team all-conference once. Off the court, she made the Dean's List once and graduated with a degree in sports and leisure. Shumpert prepped at Paducah Tilghman High School, playing four years of basketball. She led her team to four district titles and was named MVP four times. She held the Kentucky basketball record for points in a career, among girls and boys, with 3,000 points up until 2017.
