MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Union University volleyball team was swept by the University of Montevallo 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-22) Saturday, September 30. The Lady Bulldogs move to 11-7 overall and 2-4 in the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Falcons are now 7-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
In the first set, the Lady Bulldogs led the game for the first seven points. Montevallo stayed close and eventually took and kept the lead. The Lady Falcons won the first set 25-22.
In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Falcons fought hard with multiple momentum swings. Montevallo went on a 4-0 run and then Union answered with a 3-0 run. The set went into extra points, Montevallo finally winning 27-25.
The third set looked much like the first two with both teams alternating points. It was Montevallo who finished the match, winning 25-22.
Leaders for Union were
Abbie Rahn with 15 kills, and
Bre Carlton with 43 assits.
Taylor Chiaro had 19 digs.
Up next for Union is a pair of home conference games, the University of West Florida on October 6 and Valdosta State on October 7.
