CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Union men's soccer team defeated Delta State 1-0 on Friday afternoon for their first win of the season. The Bulldogs improved to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the Gulf South Conference. The Statesmen dropped to 2-7-1 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
The two teams played evenly throughout the first half. The Bulldogs only had six shot attempts in first half, and the Statesmen only took four shots.
The score at the end of the first half was 0-0.
The even play continued throughout the second half until the 75th minute. Union was awarded a free kick outside of the box, and Union's
Andre Silva was able to finish the opportunity, making the score 1-0.
Union out shot Delta State 14-10. Union's
Casper Nyberg recorded one save, and Delta State's Harvey Stevens had one save as well.
