Union baseball drops finale to North Alabama

JACKSON, Tenn. –  The Union University baseball team fell in the final game of the series with North Alabama Saturday afternoon 14-2.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • It was all North Alabama from the start Saturday. The Lions scored four in the top of the first, all with two outs, on four hits including two doubles and a triple to take the early 4-0 lead.
  • UNA put up another four run inning in the top of the third, with help from a three run homer to right from Kyle Hubbuch.
  • The Lions stretched their lead to 11-0 in the fourth with another three run shot from Hubbuch and added another run in the sixth on an RBI single to take the 12-0 lead.
  • Union finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI double from Nolen Milton that scored Tyler Mauzy following a lead off walk to start the inning. Milton was then knocked in on the next at bat on an RBI single from Jesse Kelley to make the score 12-2.
  • The Lions got those two runs back putting up two in the top of the seventh with help from two triples in the inning to win 14-2 in the shortened contest.



 
POSTGAME STATS
Skyler Harrison started the game on the mound for Union but only lasted 0.2 innings. Austin Kitterman, Joe Hudson, Tommy Weiler, and Cooper Bullough finished out the contest for Union on the bump.
Union batted 15 players total in the ballgame with Nolen Milton being the only Bulldog with multiple hits going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI and a run scored.
