JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University softball team swept cross-town rival, Lane College, in a midweek double-header. Union took the first game in a five inning mercy rule win, 10-0. Union also won the second game 7-2. With the double-head sweep, Union's head coach,
Heather Hall, earned her 300
th career win. Coach Hall started her coaching career at Union and in currently in her 10
th season at the helm.

Game One
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Lady Bulldogs put up three runs in the first inning as the first two runs scored on wild pitches. Hailey Cummings singled up the middle to score Hailey Barnette to put up the third run of the inning.
- Union scored four runs, three earned, in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead over the Lady Dragons. Ashley Scott got the rally going with a single up the middle that scored Hannah Ridolfi. Hailey Cummings would pick up another RBI as she singled to left field that scored Scott. Gabby Morris would cross the plate on a sacrifice fly to centerfield off the bat of Taylor Griffith. LaDesha Nelson would then reach on a throwing error that also scored Cummings.
- The Lady Bulldogs stretched their lead to 10-0 in the fourth inning as they pushed across three more runs to end the game by mercy rule.
POSTGAME STATS
- Gabby Morris and Hailey Cummings each went 3-for-3 at the place. Cummings led with three RBIs while Morris led with three runs scored.
- Hannah Ridolfi (9-6) picked up the win in the circle going four innings allowing just two hits while striking out five.
Game Two
WHAT HAPPENED
- Again, Union scored in the first inning to take the early 2-0 lead. Ashley Scott picked up the RBI single to center field to score Emily Bennett. Haley Barnette reached on single and would eventually come around to score on a wild pitch.
- Scott picked up her second RBI of the game on a triple to center field to score Marley Dyess to give the Lady Bulldogs a 3-0 lead in the second inning.
- Union would bust the game open in the fourth inning as Bennett singled to score Dyess. Bennett would come around to score on a single to left field off the bat of Morris. Barnette picked up the RBI ground out that scored Scott to push the Lady Bulldog lead to 6-0.
- Dyess would send a shot over the right fielders head in the fifth inning to give Union another run as Cummings scored on the play.
- Lane put up two runs in the seventh inning on a two RBI single up the middle from Ericka Webster, but it was not enough as Union took the game 7-2.
POSTGAME STATS
- Emily Bennett, Ashley Scott, and Marley Dyess each went 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Scott had two RBIs in the game while Bennett scored three times. Bennett also stole three bases in the game.
- Gabby Morris (5-6) went four innings to pick up the win allowing two hits, no runs, with nine strikeouts.
