JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team dropped the Gulf South Conference series finale at Valdosta State University Sunday afternoon after taking the first two games of the weekend.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Valdosta State got on the board first in the contest scoring twice in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double and a run coming in on a steal play.
- Union wasted no time erasing the two run deficit in the next half inning with an RBI single from Tyler Mauzy and a pair of sacrifice fly outs from Dylan Moore and Zach Phillips that put the Bulldogs up 3-2.
- The Blazers retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth with two RBI doubles to make the score 4-3 in favor of the home team.
- Valdosta State piled on the runs in sixth and seventh scoring six more runs to go ahead 10-3 and held onto the seven run lead for the rest of the contest.
POSTGAME STATS
Skyler Harrison started the game for Union going four innings giving up four runs on six hits and earned the loss to move to 2-1 on the season.

Austin Kitterman got the Bulldogs through the seventh before
Walter Rook tossed a perfect eighth.
Tyler Mauzy led the way at the plate going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while
Ryne Roper recorded two hits in four at bats for the Bulldogs.
