WHAT HAPPENED
- Union got on the board first in the bottom half of the first inning with a bases clearing triple from Zach Phillips that drove home Dylan Moore, Nolen Milton and Tyler Mauzy for the early 3-0 lead.
- The Bulldogs added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI single off the bat of Mauzy that scored Ryne Roper that pushed the lead to 4-0.
- Union added another run in the bottom of the eighth with a sacrifice fly out following an error by the Lindenwood centerfielder that allowed another run to come in for the Bulldogs.
POSTGAME STATS
- It was a bullpen day on the mound for Union as the Bulldogs threw five pitchers in the shutout win. Joe Hudson earned the win going 3.0 innings in relief to improve to 2-0 on the season after coming into the game for Marty Coursey who started the game on the bump. Austin Kitterman, Cooper Bullough and Skyler Harrison all combined to throw the final three innings of the contest tossing an inning a piece.
- Zach Phillips led the way at the plate driving in four runs for the Bulldogs inclduing the bases clearing triple.
- Nolen Milton, Ryne Roper, and Tyler Mauzy each recorded two hits on the afternoon with Milton and Roper each hitting doubles.
