JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team fell in back-to-back games for the first time this season falling to Mississippi College Sunday afternoon in the Gulf South Conference double header.

Game One
WHAT HAPPENED
- MC led off the scoring pushing across a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI double to left.
- The Bulldogs fought back in the bottom of the second on an RBI double of their own from Zach Wylie that just nearly missed clearing the fence in left scoring one run. Union added another run later in the inning on a fly out from Hayden Lewis that scored Tyler Mauzy to give Union the 2-1 lead.
- The Choctaws made that lead short lived jumping back out in front just a half inning later with a sac fly that tied the game. They pushed across two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings and another single run in the seventh to lead 7-2.
POSTGAME STATS
- Austin Kitterman started the game on the mound tossing 5.1 innings giving up six runs on nine hits in his first start of the year. The freshman right hander recorded five strikeouts without walking a single batter but earned the loss to move to 0-2 on the season.
- Skylar Harrison entered the game in relief in the sixth giving up only a single run in 3.2 innings of work. Harrison gave up three hits while striking out the same number of hitters without walking a batter.
- Union only had three hits in the game with the RBI double from Zach Wylie being the only extra base hit of the contest for Union. Hayden Lewis and Nolen Milton had the other two hits for the Bulldogs.
Game Two
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws were the first to get on the board once again in the second game of the afternoon putting up three runs in the top of the second inning on three hits. Mississippi College added two more runs in the top of the fourth on two fielder's choices to take the 5-0 lead.
- Union got their first hit of the game in the bottom half of the fourth which would lead to their first runs of the game with their first run coming in on a bases loaded walk. Two more runs came in just one batter later on a RBI single from Austin Orr that scored Mason Castile and Ryne Roper.
- The Bulldogs mounted a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh with Nolen Milton crushing a ball over the fence in left to cut the deficit to just one run, 5-4, but fell short in the attempt.
POSTGAME STATS
- Teddy Christie started the game for Union on the bump, but earned the loss giving up five runs, only two earned, in 7.0 complete innings of work. The senior recorded five strikeouts while walking four batters.
- The Bulldogs were held to just three hits once again in the second half of the double header with Austin Orr, Ryne Roper and Nolen Milton reaching on balls put into play.
