JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team won their fourth straight to open the 2017 season with an 11-5 victory over LeMoyne-Owen College. The Bulldogs recorded 19 hits in the ballgame, a season high.

WHAT HAPPENED
- LeMoyne-Owen opened the scoring in their first trip to the plate scoring two runs on two hits and an error.
- Union took a run back in the bottom half of the first with an RBI single scoring Austin Orr.
- After giving up two more in the top half of the second, Union held the Magicians scoreless in the third before getting back on the board with a RBI fielder's choice from Nolen Milton scoring Tyler Mauzy and a sacrifice fly from Bailey Holbrook that scoredWylie from third.
- Union opened up the game in the fourth plating six runs on seven hits. Mauzy started the scoring with and RBI double and was followed up by Dylan Moore and Milton with RBI singles. Holbrook then smashed a triple into the right center gap scoring another run for the Bulldogs while Zach Phillips and Hayden Lewis each added run scoring hits to finish off the scoring in the fourth and lead the game 9-4.
- LOC added another run in the fifth, but Union added runs in the sixth and eighth innings to push their lead to 11-5.
POSTGAME STATS
- Landon Walker started on the mound for Union tossing three innings giving up four runs, only one earned, while striking out two batters. Walter Rook earned the win in the contest pitching four innings in relief giving up only one run on five hits while also recording two strikeouts. Austin Kitterman and Cooper Bullough combined for the final two innings of relief each striking out two batters.
- Tyler Mauzy led the Bulldogs at the plate going 4-for-5 scoring two runs and driving in another with a double.
- Seven other Bulldogs had two hits a piece in the game with Hayden Lewis driving in three runs.

Union continues on their home stretch with a three game series against Maryville with a doubleheader on Friday afternoon and a single game to finish the series on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. on both days.
