JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's basketball posted a 63-45 win over the University of West Georgia Saturday afternoon. Union has now won back-to-back games for the first time since November 29/December 2 games.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Union started the game with four straight points, and six of the game's first nine points. West Georgia answered with 6-3 stretch to tie the game 9-9 with just under three minutes left. Union's Fredi Nielson scored the next four for Union to give the Lady Bulldogs a 13-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- West Georgia's Julianne Bayer opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer to give her team their first and only lead of the game, 14-13. Union answered with an 11-3 run including three 3-pointers, one from Chelsea Bodiford and two from Astrid Huttmann to take a 24-17 lead at the 2:32 mark. After four straight points from the Wolves, Union's Tiffany Rechis made it four straight 3-pointers for the Lady Bulldogs. Union led 27-21 at the half.
- Union's Jada Smith gave Union a quick start to the second half with back-to-back baskets, giving Union a double-digit lead for the first time in the game, 31-21.
- West Georgia cut the deficit to six points, but Union's Huttemann hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Rechis followed with three free throws to give Union a 44-29 lead with 3:18 left in the third quarter. Union ending the third with a 48-34 lead.
- Huttemann got Union back up to a 15 point lead, 53-38, for the second time in the game following her fifth 3-pointer of the night. Bodiford's third 3-pointer of the game put Union up 58-40 with 4:23 left in the game. Union led by as many as 20 points down the stretch (60-40) and costed to the 63-45 win.

Today's win for Union marked the first victory on a Saturday since Union's opening weekend win at Nova Southeastern November 12.
TEAM STATS
- Union shot 40 percent from the field, 39 percent (9-23) from 3-point range and 92 percent (12-13) from the free throw line.
- West Georgia shot 25 percent from the field, 20 percent (5-25) from long range and 77 percent (10-13) from the free throw line.
- West Georgia edged Union 39-38 in rebounds, but controlled the offensive glass 14-7. Union committed 12 turnovers to 10 from the Wolves.
PLAYER STATS
- Union was led by Huttemann with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She hit 5-of-9 from 3-point range, snapping an 0-for-19 stretch from behind the arc. Bodiford and Smith added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
- West Georgia was led by A'Kia Harris with nine points, while D'Asia Cain and Jessica Brown added eight points each.
