Valdosta State vaults over Union women

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Union University Lady Bulldog basketball team fell 75-59 to Valdosta State University. Valdosta led Union for the entire game to end a two game win streak for the Lady Bulldogs. Earlier in the season, the Blazers took down Union 61-57.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • Valdosta State dominated Union in the first quarter outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 21-13. The second quarter was the same as the Blazers shooting was on fire to go into the half leading, 44-28.
  • VSU shot 50 percent from the field and 58 percent (7-for-12) from 3-point range in the first half. Union shot just 33 percent from short range and 20 percent (2-for-10) from long range.
  • In the third quarter, Union did outscore the Blazers 17-14 to cut the lead to 58-45. The deficit was too much for the Lady Bulldogs as Valdosta State was able to keep Union quiet during the fourth quarter to take the game, 75-59.
