JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's basketball team defeated the University of Alabama in Huntsville 83-50 Saturday afternoon. With the win, Union closes out the regular season by winning eight of their last 10 games, including five straight after today's win.

WHAT HAPPENED
Union scored first on a layup from
Bria Gaines, but it was Alabama Huntsville in control early with a 7-0 run to lead 7-2. Union stayed close but UAH held a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Alabama Huntsville held a slim lead for most of the quarter until Union tied the game 26-26 with 2:32 left in the half. After a pair of UAH free throws, Union regained the lead for the first time since it was 2-0 when senior
Chelsea Bodiford hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left. Union held the 29-28 lead at the end of first half.
Bodiford started the second half the same way she ended the first half, with a 3-pointer. Union opened the second half with a 5-0 run and never looked back. After a basket form UAH, Union scored 12 straight points as part of a 20-2 run that started with Bodiford's 3-pointer to end the first half. Union outscored Alabama Huntsville 34-9 in the third quarter.
Union cruised to the win with a 20-10 fourth quarter, including a 18-5 run to close out the last six minutes of the game.
STAT OF THE GAME
Union shot 62 percent from the field and 67 percent (10-15) from long range in the second half. The Lady Bulldogs outscored UAH 54-22.
TEAM STATS
Union shot 52 percent, 48 percent (13-27) from 3-point range and 75 percent (6-of-8) from the free throw line.
Alabama Huntsville shot 35 percent from the field, 39 percent from behind the arc and 54 percent (7-13) from the free throw line.
Union out rebounded UAH 42-25, including 10-4 on the offensive glass. Union committed just five turnovers, while UAH had 15 turnovers.
