MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Union University baseball team bounced back from their first loss of the season in a big way with a 19-8 win at the University of Arkansas in Monticello. Union scored 14 unanswered runs to rally for the win.
Nolen Milton set a school record with nine RBI in the game, going 4-for-6 with four runs, and two home runs, including a grand slam.

WHAT HAPPENED
Union scored first in the first on a
Nolen Milton RBI groundout. UAM answered with a run in the first. Union scored in each of the first five innings with two in the second, third and fourth, Then six in the fifth.
The Bulldogs got a two-run home run from
Zach Phillips in the second.
Zach Wylie doubled in a run in the third, followed by an RBI single form
Hayden Lewis. Union led 5-1. UAM stormed back to take the lead with seven runs in the bottom of the third, 8-5.
In the fourth, Milton and Wylie again had RBI hits to cut the Union deficit to just one, 8-7. However, in the fifth, Union put up six runs and never looked back.
David Robins had a three run double, followed by a Milton three run home run.
Union put the game away with six more runs in the eighth inning.
Bailey Holbrook scored on a wild pitch and
Tyler Mauzy had an RBI single. Milton then capped off the rally with a grand slam for his second home run of the game.
POSTGAME STATS
Six pitchers appeared in the game, getting work for several players heading into their first conference weekend. Freshman
Landon Walker started for Union, going 2.2 innings and allowing six runs. Joe Hutson (1-0) got the win, tossing 1.1 inning of work and allowing two runs. The next four guys (
Austin Kitterman,
Skyler Harrison,
Cooper Bullough and
Walter Rook) each tossed one inning of work, allowing no runs.
Robins and Milton had four hits each to lead Union. Milton finished with nine RBI in the game. Phillips and
Ryne Roper each had three hits in the game.
