Union women's soccer halts skid with 2-0 win

JACKSON, Tenn. -  The Union University women's soccer team topped Auburn University-Montgomery 2-0 at Smith Soccer Complex. Union improved to 3-7 on the season and 3-6 in the Gulf South Conference. AUM dropped to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in league play.

Union, looking to snap a four-match losing streak, scored both goals in the first half of the match. Jackson native Addison Dunn scored the game winner in the 21st minute when she took a pass from Olivia Schmitke. Dunn beat the AUM goalie one-on-one at the top of the box for the empty net goal.

Then, inside the final minute of the first half, senior Krista Erlandson took a pass from Austen DeLoach and found the back of the net.

Union outshot AUM 11-6 in the first half.

In the second half, both teams managed seven shots each, but neither team scored.

Dunn led Union with six shots, while Shelby High and Erlandson added two each. Senior goalie Kristen Francis had three saves in her second shutout of the season.

Agnes Edlund led AUM with five shots. Felicia Wester allowed two goals and had seven saves in net for the WarHawks.

Up next for Union will be a pair of road matches starting at West Alabama Friday, October 13 at 5 p.m.
