MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Union University volleyball defeated Auburn University at Montgomery (21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21) Saturday afternoon.
Union is now 13-14 overall and 3-9 in the Gulf South Conference. AUM is now 9-16 overall and 1-11 in conference.
In the first set, AUM scored the first four points. Union was able to tie it at 11, but was never able to take the lead and lost 21-25.
AUM took the lead again in the second set, but Union scored five straight points to take the lead. Union gave up the lead one other time until scoring three straight points that gave them momentum to finish the game, 25-22.
In the third set, the teams swapped points until Union scored six straight at the end to win 25-20.
The beginning of the fourth set was a battle between the teams. Union was up 19-10 when AUM scored six straight. A back and forth brought the score to 23-21, but Union was able to finish the game 25-21.
Leaders for Union were
Ceciley Blanchard with 15 kills and
Abbie Rahn with 13.
Bre Carlton had 45 assists for Union and
Taylor Chiaro had 23 digs.
Up next for Union is a home game against the University of Alabama Huntsville Friday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m.
