JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University Bulldogs played Ouachita Baptist University Thursday night.
The Bulldogs are now 3-11-1 overall, while the Tigers are 6-7-1 on the season.
Union started strong in the first half with four corner kicks and 14 shots. The Tigers recorded no corner kicks and only four shots on goal. Neither team scored in the first half.
In the second half, Union lead again with 19 shots to Ouachita Baptist's four. Union had six corner kicks, Ouachita had just one.
With 42 seconds left in regulation, Ouachita's Tyler Mouton scored the first goal of the match with an assist by Blake Beshirs. Union was now in desperation down by one with 42 seconds left. Union's
Andre Silva took the drop and play a deep ball down the field. With less than 35 seconds on the clock, Silva's shot landed in the middle of the box.
Joseph Virtala was there to corral the ball among multiple defenders, shot and scored for the Bulldogs.
Both teams had three shots in the first overtime, but neither scored. In the second overtime, Ouachita Baptist edged Union 4-2 in shots, but again, neither team scored. Both teams had near misses in the fourth overtime in the final minute of play.
