BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Union University volleyball team Loss to Flagler College 3-2 (25-20, 25-23, 30-28) and Florida Tech 3-2 (10-25, 16-25, 25-19, 25-11, 15-12) Saturday afternoon at day two of the Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 12-11 overall and 2-6 in the GSC. Flagler College is now 14-3 overall and 4-3 in the PBC. Florida Tech is now 7-7 overall and 2-6 in the PBC. Union went 1-2 in the GSC Crossover Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs battled hard in the first set against Flagler College but fell 20-25. In the second set, Union went on a 0-5 run putting them ahead of Flagler 6-9. Flagler scored again, yet Union answered with another 0-4 run. Though Union had the momentum, they could not hold the lead and loss 25-23. The third set was a battle back and forth as they went into extra points. Flagler outlasted Union, 30-28.
The second game of the day for the Lady Bulldogs was Florida Tech University. Union won the first two matches handily, 10-25 and 16-25. However, the Lady Bulldogs lost momentum in the third set after Florida Tech went on a 5-0 run and lost 25-19. In the fourth set Florida Tech had the first seven kills on the set. The Lady Bulldogs tried to battle back but Florida Tech never gave up the lead winning 25-11. In the final round, Union battled hard but Florida Tech won 15-12.

Clare Taylor with 18 kills,
Taylor Chiaro with 28 digs and
Bre Carlton with 68 assists.
Up next for Union, they return to conference play as they take on West Alabama in Livingston, Ala., Monday, October 16 at 6:00 p.m.
