JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women's basketball defeated Mississippi College 92-69 Monday evening. Union avoided a three-game GSC skid and pulled even in league play at 3-3.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Mississippi College scored first on a basket from Kelley Allen. After Union's Jada Smith answered with a 3-pointer, Mississippi College scored 10 straight points, jumping out to a 12-3 lead with 5:41 left in the first quarter. By the end of the quarter, Union cut the deficit down to just two points, 16-14, closing out the quarter with a 7-0 run.
- After MC scored first in the second quarter, Union got back-to-back layups from Fredi Nielsen to tie the game at 18-18. Union capped their 7-0 run with a 3-pointer from Sara Lytle to take their first lead since 3-2. With the game tied 23-23, Union got a 3-pointer from Jada Perkins to spark 15-2 run, giving Union their largest lead of the first half 38-25 with 1:52 left in the half. Union took a 40-30 lead into the break, outscoring MC 26-14 in the second quarter.
- With Union leading 43-30 early in the third quarter, MC posted a 10-2 run to cut Union's lead down to 45-40 with 6:17 left in the quarter. However, a quick 6-0 run, including four straight points from Perkins, put the Lady Bulldogs back up by double figures, 51-40. Perkins sparked Union's third quarter, scoring 13 points of her own in the period. MC cut their deficit back to 10 points, 64-54, by the end of the quarter.
- Union opened the fourth quarter with a 14-3 run including Tiffany Rechis' fourth 3-pointer of the game, putting Union up 78-57 with 6:06 left in the game. Union's largest lead of the game came at 25 points three times in the fourth quarter, the final time at 92-67.

- Union had six players in double figures led by Perkins with 24 points and six assists. She was 8-of-12 from the field, 1-of-1 from long range and 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Jada Smith added 19 points, Bria Gains scored 12, including 10 in the fourth quarter. Tiffany Rechis scored 12 on four 3-pointers. Nielsen and Sara Lytle each added 11 points.
- Mississippi College was led by Lacey with 14 points, while Minor and Allen each added 11 points.
