Union softball falls in season finale

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University softball team dropped their final three games of the season to the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Union ended the season 10-42 with a Gulf South Conference record of 2-30. Alabama Huntsville ended their regular season 38-13 and a league record of 22-11.

UAH took the first game in a five inning mercy rule, 20-0. Union managed just three hits in the game. In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs held a strong Charger offense to five runs, but were able to plate just one run to set the final at 5-1. In the final game of the series, Alabama Huntsville pushed across five runs in the first inning, and Union was able to respond with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Bulldogs were unable to keep their momentum losing the game 18-4.

Union honored four seniors in their Senior Day festivities between the games of the Saturday double-header. Summer Cross, Reagan Schrader, and Whitney Christian were all four year starters for the Lady Bulldogs and helped Union to the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship during their freshman year. Sara Cowan was unable to continue her playing career due to injury, but helped the softball program as the manager during her four years.

Union would like to thank these four seniors for their dedication to the softball program and their school.
