JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University women's basketball team posted a 114-45 win over Rust (Miss.) College in their final non-conference game of the regular season. Union resumes Gulf South Conference play Saturday at Delta State.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Rust scored first with a jumper from Jasmine Goldend. Union responded with a 22-0 run to lead 22-2 with 4:44 left in the first quarter. Union led 38-14 after quarter number one.
- Union outscored Rust 30-13 in the second quarter to lead 68-27 at the half. Union shot 56 percent from the field in the first half, including 59 percent (10-17) from long range.
- In the third quarter, both teams struggled to score out of the locker room. Union managed just 10 points over the first seven minutes of the third quarter, but added 10 more over the final three minutes to push their lead to 88-35 heading into the fourth quarter.
- Union outscored Rust 26-10 in the final quarter, holding their largest lead of the game of 74 points with 1:49 left to play.
TEAM STATS
- Union finished the game 49 percent from the field and 36 percent from long range after just 3-of-19 shooting from 3-point range in the second half. Union shot 72 percent (21-29) from the charity stripe.
- Rust shot 20 percent from the field 18 percent (3-17) from long range and 59 percent (20-34) from the free throw line.
- Union out rebounded Rust 65-32 and had half the turnovers (11) to 22 from the Bearcats.
PLAYER STATS
- All nine players for Union scored in the game, including five in double figures and three with 20 or more points. Jada Smith led all scorers with 23 points. Jada Perkins and Bria Gains added 20 each, while Chelsea Bodiford and Sara Lytle scored 12. Gaines led with 15 rebounds for her double-double, while Lytle recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds.
- Rust was led by Gilbert with 12 points, Rayford with 11 points and 15 rebounds, and Pitchford with 10 points.

Union will resume GSC play Saturday, December 31 at Delta State (Miss.) at 2 p.m. Union will play conference games for the remainder of the regular season. Union's next home game is Monday, January 2 at 6 p.m. versus Mississippi College.
