MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Union University men's basketball team won their third straight game to open up the season 3-0 on Thursday evening at Auburn Montgomery.

WHAT HAPPENED
- After a back and forth opening nine minutes, Jarad Scott hit back to back three's for Union to give the Bulldogs the 13-11 lead.
- Union finally pulled away going on a nine point run with three straight threes from Scott, Nick Velasquez and Tray Boyd putting Union up by eight. Then, following a layup from AUM, Boyd hit back to back threes to push the lead to 31-19 with 2:24 left in the half. Union would go into the half leading 35-27.
- In the second half, AUM cut the Union lead to just five following a seven point run. The Warhawks tied the game with 3:49 left with the help of a 12-2 run.
- Union regained their lead immediately after when Tray Boyd scored seven straight for the Bulldogs with a three and two layups. Union would hold on to the lead to win by seven, 71-64.

- This is the fourth straight year that the Bulldogs have started their season with three straight wins.

- Union shot 43.3% from the field going 26-60 and 37.5% from behind arc going 12-32. The Bulldogs hit 7-of-9 free throws at the line.
- Union was outscored in the second half 37-36, but held on to their first half lead for the win.
- AUM shot 38.7% from the field going 24-62 and just 17.4% in three pointers hitting just 4 out of 23 shots.

- Union was led by Tray Boyd with 21 points for his first 20+ point game of his career.
- Jarad Scott earned his second straight double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.
- Nick Velasquez and Ashanti Day added 11 and 10 points each to the Union total.
- Lafayette James Core led the Warhawks with 16 points.
