JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University Lady Bulldog volleyball team was shutout by Valdosta State University Blazers 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-15) on the Lady Bulldogs last home game of the season. Union fell to 8-19 on the season, and are 7-11 in the Gulf South Conference. Valdosta State improved to 21-5 on the season, and sit at 16-2 in conference play.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped early in the first set with two runs of three straight points. Behind 6-1, the Blazers rallied for a 3-0 run of their own bringing the score to 6-4 in favor of Union. The Lady Bulldogs held a slight lead at 12-9, when another three point run by Valdosta State tied the set 12-12. Union broke serve, but the Blazers started to pull away with two subsequent 3-0 runs. Valdosta continued to dominate the rest of the set, and ultimately won 25-20.

The Blazers continued their dominant play going into the second set. VSU quickly took the lead 11-3. The Lady Bulldogs rallied for a run of three straight points to make the score 11-6, but Valdosta then went of a 4-0 run to push their lead to 15-6. Later in the set, Union tried to get some points back, but was ultimately defeated 25-15.

Again, the Blazers started the third set with a lead. VSU led 21-1 when the Lady Bulldogs started a late surge to get the score to 21-14. Union was unable to keep the momentum on their side, and was defeated 25-15 in the third set.

Hannah Huguley with 16 assists and digs.
Deja Moorer,
McKenna Carter, and
Christa Karns all had five kills for Union. Lea Jaklen led Valdosta State with 18 kills and 15 digs, while Jessica Codato added 37 assists to help VSU get the win.

The Lady Bulldogs will close out the regular season on the road. Union will take on the University of West Georgia Friday, November 13, and the University of West Alabama Saturday, November 14. The Lady Bulldogs currently sit at eighth in the GSC standings. Only the top six team will make it to the Gulf South Conference tournament.
