Union volleyball sweeps UWG 3-0

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Union University volleyball team got the sweep against the University of West Georgia, 3-0(25-14, 25-13, 25-17) Friday night. Union improved to 9-19 on the season, and holds a conference record of 8-11. UWG dropped to 0-19 in conference play, and 3-26 on the season.
The Lady Bulldogs and the Wolves traded possessions early in the first set. Union started a 6-0 run thanks to three consecutive kills by Deja Moorer. The Lady Bulldogs continued in that same fashion, leading the rest of the set, and won the set 25-14. In the set, McKenna Carter had a perfect attacking percentage to help Union to a .429 team attacking percentage.
Union continued to dominate the Wolves going into the second set. The Lady Bulldogs took a decisive lead, 18-5, after scoring seven straight points. West Georgia found some fire, and shortened Union's lead to 21-10. UWG was unable to make a comeback, and the Lady Bulldogs took the second set win, 25-13.
Again, Union took a quick lead heading into the third set. The Lady Bulldogs were ahead 17-8 with little threat coming from the Wolves. West Georgia started to turn it around, and traded possessions with Union to get some points back. The Lady Bulldogs allowed the Wolves to come within six points, but was able to shut them down 25-17 to take the match win.
Union led West Georgia 47-25 in kills, and a .422 team attacking percentage. Moorer led the Lady Bulldogs in that category with 17 total kills on the night. Elise Seufert added 16 digs, and 39 assists from Hannah Huguley helped Union to the match win.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs will close out the regular season, November 14, against the University of West Alabama at 5pm.
