LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Union University volleyball team ended their 2015 season with a second straight win, 3-2 over the University of West Alabama Saturday. Union improved to 10-19 overall and 9-11 in league play. West Alabama dropped to 11-19 overall and 9-11 in league play
The win for Union put both Union and West Alabama tied for sixth in the final Gulf South Conference standings. Only the top six teams advance to the GSC Tournament and by way of head-to-head sets, West Alabama won the tiebreaker over Union five sets to four. Had Union won the match 3-0, Union would have earned the tiebreaker win and advanced to their first GSC Tournament.
West Alabama won the first set 25-20, sealing their spot in the tournament. The Tigers then won set two 25-23. Union responded and closed out the match with three straight set victories. In doing so, ending their season with a win.
Union was led by
Deja Moorer with 15 kills.
Ceciley Blanchard added 14 kills and
Casi Neff recorded 13 kills.
Yanesha Johnson led West Alabama with 14 kills.
