CLINTON, Miss.- The Union University men's basketball team lost at Mississippi College 72-67 Saturday. The Bulldogs fell to 9-6 in Gulf South Conference play and 15-6 on the season, while Mississippi College improved to 6-9 in conference and 8-9 overall.

After a big win at Delta State on Thursday, Union came out slow against Mississippi College Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs put up 10 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, but were able to hold the Choctaws to only 12 in the same period of time. The Bulldogs seemed to pick up the pace of play for the rest of the first half to go into the locker room leading 27-22.

The second half included even closer play with both teams trading the lead 13 times in the half and neither team gaining more than an eight-point lead at any time.
Marterrace Brock jumper gave Union their final lead of the game, 62-61, with 2:26 left to play. Mississippi College answered with a 3-pointer and never trailed again. The Choctaws followed that 3-pointer with a successful 3-point play capping a game-winning 6-0 run. Free throws put Mississippi Colleg up by as many as eight points in the final minute. With the loss, Union falls into a tie for the fourth spot in the conference standings with West Alabama.

Three players from Union recorded double-digit point totals with
Corieon Pearson leading the team with 16 points and three assists.
Ashanti Day added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while
Marterrace Brock added 14 points. The Bulldogs shot 41.4% from the floor and 35.0% in 3-pointers.

Mississippi College was lead by Tory Rice with 24 points and 14 rebounds on the night. Stacy Mack added 13 points and 11 rebounds with Jaron Edwards adding 12 more points.
