ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Union University men's soccer team fell 2-1 at Ouachita Baptist University Thursday night. Union dropped to 1-9 on the season, while Ouachita Baptist improved to 6-5-1 on the season.
Tinashe Chigede scored twice for the home Tigers, the first time coming in the 15
th minute and the second coming in the 26
th minute to put his team up 2-0. Ryan Trayner and Brandon Hom earned the assists on the two goals. The score was 2-0 at the half. Ouachita Baptist outshot Union 9-6 in the first half and 16-10 in the match.
In the second half, Union was finally able to get on the scoreboard with a late goal in the 88
th minute by
Rodrigo Zonta. Union continued to make a late push getting shots to try and tie the match. Union's final shot of the match came from
Clayton Martin who's shot glanced off the cross bar with just 35 seconds left to play, leaving Union just short of the comeback.
Matt Kesler recorded five saves for Union, while David Henley had one save for Ouachita Baptist, both working 90 minutes.
Up next for Union will be the make-up match at Delta State (Miss.) Tuesday, October 21 at 3 p.m.
