CLEVELAND, Miss.- The Union University men's soccer team lost a conference match Tuesday against Delta State 3-0 in a makeup game from a rainout on October 21th. Union fell to 1-10 in regular season play and 0-6 in Gulf South Conference play. Delta State improved to 5-9 on the regular season and 2-5 in conference play.
Delta State jumped out to an early lead in just the 15
th minute of play when Brock Hollier got past the Union defender and easily put the ball into the back of the net.
Delta State netted another first half goal in the 24
th minute when Amine Rahmani put the ball in off of a corner kick from Leo Rodrigues.
Delta State effectively ended the game in the 50
th minute when Rahmani score his second goal of the game off of a penalty kick to give the Statesmen a commanding 3-0 lead.
Rodrigo Zonta lead Union with two shots on the afternoon and four other Bulldogs tallied one shot each.
Next up for Union will be two more home conference games this weekend. First, the Bulldogs will take on Shorter (Ga.) University Friday, October 24
th, at 7:15 p.m. Then, they will play Lee University Sunday, October 26
th.
