NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Union University volleyball team dropped a non-conference match at former conference foe Trevecca Nazarene University 3-0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-12). Union dropped to 4-12 overall, while Trevecca Nazarene improved to 7-4.
Union and Trevecca played a tight first set that featured four ties and one lead change. However, Union struggled hitting during the remainder of the match. The Lady Bulldogs posted 29 attack errors while getting just 22 kills. Those errors led to the home Trojans cruising to the win with 13-points wins in the final two sets.
Union was led by
Deja Moorer with seven kills.
Lydia Wright led with 10 assists,
Abbey Wainwright led with 12 digs,
Mallory Baker led with three blocks, and
Jami Humphries recorded Union's only ace.
Trevecca Nazarene was led by Kristen Johnson with seven kills, Caroline Gay led with eight assista, Katelyn Atkinson led with two aces and nine digs, and Zakia Jackson led with four blocks.
Both teams equaled 22 kills, but Union had 29 attack errors, 12 service errors and four block errors. TNU managed just 14, 6, and 2 errors in the same three categories.
Up next for Union will be Gulf South Conference match against GSC newcomer and former NAIA foe, Lee University, Friday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m.
