Union University senior DeAnna Thompson has been named the Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 18, 2015. This is Thompson's second GSC award this year and fifth for Union (Philamlee twice, Risner).

Thompson, a 6-foot-2 senior forward, helped Union to a 2-0 week, pushing the Lady Bulldogs back to the top of the GSC standings. The Oxford, Miss. Native posted a pair of double-doubles on the week, averaging 19.5 points and 12 rebounds. In the 88-64 win at North Alabama, she scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while adding one assist, one block, and one steal. She scored a game-high 20 points with 11 rebounds and one assist in a 68-49 win over Christian Brothers.

On the season, Thompson averages 16.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game and now has a total of 10 double-doubles this season.
