Union University's Emily Waggoner was named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 20. This is the first such honor for Waggoner and the second this season for the women's soccer team (Kayleigh Patterson 9/17).
 
Waggoner, a 5-foot-5 sophomore goal keeper from Mayfield, Ky., helped Union to a positive 1-1 week. She allowed just one goal in a 2-1 loss to West Florida, the defending NCAA DII National Champion and current NCAA No. 6 ranked team. Waggoner recorded two saves in the loss. She then posted her sixth shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over West Alabama. West Alabama was in fourth place in league standings entering the match. Waggoner has six shutouts on the season, including all five of Union's wins and one tie. Waggoner tallied 6 saves in the two games this week.
