Union University Athletics

Union University senior Bryce Doughty has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 29. Doughty earns this honor for the first time and his career. This also marks the first such honor for men's golf this season.
 
Doughty, a 5-foot-8 senior from Benton, Ill. (John A. Logan CC/Benton Consolidated HS), posted a first place finish in the Freed-Hardeman Fall Invitational. He posted a first-round best 67 and followed that up with a final round 72 par score to win the event by two shots. In his other event this season, Doughty posted a top-10 finish as he has helped Union to back-to-back top-5 finishes in their two tournaments (2nd at Delta State). Doughty was instrumental in helping Union, a team that graduated four of the five starters from last season's NCCAA runner-up team, earn a return bid to the 2013 NCCAA Men's Golf National Tournament.
