EBANON, Tenn. – Brooke Thomas of Union University has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Pitcher of the Week. This is the first TSWA award this season for Thomas and second for Union softball (Shelby Lamb, player of the week).
Thomas, 5-foot-5 senior, allowed two runs in 13.0 innings in a pair of outings for Union, posting a 1-1 record. The Huntingdon, Tenn., native allowed one run on five hits in a complete game victory at Washington University, getting 11 ground ball outs. Union scored five times in the last two innings for a 5-1 win.
The senior right-hander was the tough-luck loser in a 1-0 loss at Trevecca Nazarene, giving up one run on five hits with eight strikeouts. She recorded eight ground ball outs in the contest as well. Thomas is 10-10 on the season with a 2.41 ERA in 130.2 innings of work with 91 strikeouts in 25 appearances.
