Before Union
Leatherwood prepped at Arlington High School where she ran four years of cross country, along with four years of track and field. She helped lead her team to teh 2015 TSSAA Region 7 Title. Leatherwood earned numerous honors including cross country Leadership Award three times, track and field Leadership Award twice, Best Distance Runner twice, track and field Scholar Athlete Award and Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps Scholar Athlete Finalist. Leatherwood won the 3200m Shelby County Varsity Title, was a three time cross country state qualifier and was a 4x800m ReLay Team Medalist. Off the course, Leatherwood was a member of the National Honors Society, Senior Communications Council Representative, National Latin Exam Summa Cum Laude, Commercial Appeal English All-Star finalist, Junioe Classical League Vice President, Yearbook Editor-in-Chief, Daughters of teh American Revolution Essay Contest Winner, Optimist Club Essay Contest Winner, Arlington High School Class of 2016 English Award, National English Honor Society, Thirty Plus Club and Beta Club.
