NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Union University’s Amy Philamlee earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades after helping the Bulldogs win the NCCAA Mid-East Regional and earning Mid-East Region co-Player of the Year honors.
This is the third TSWA weekly honor for Philmalee this season and fifth overall for the Union women (Philamlee three times, Rechis twice). This week also marks the final basketball weekly award of the season for the TSWA.
The Jonesboro, Ark., native scored a game-high 23 points with nine rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in Union’s 83-67 victory in the championship game over Bluefield College. She made a pair of 3-pointers and was 7-of-9 at the foul line. The sophomore tallied seven points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals in the semifinal win over Tennessee Temple.
She was named first team all-region and was named the NCCAA MidEast Co-Player of the Year.
