 Union University freshman Kristin Cook was named the NCCAA National Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week. This is Cook’s first such award of the season. She joins golfers Brett Barry, Kody Alexander, and Lindsay McRee as Union athletes to have earned the NCCAA national player of the week award.
 
Cook, freshman outside hitter from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., helped Union to a 3-2 week and a runner-up finish in the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament. She recorded 71 kills in 22 sets on the week for a 3.2 per set average. She had double figures kills in three of the matches, including a season high 28 kills in a win over Covenant in the semifinal, 5-set win. Cook was also named to the NCCAA MidEast All-Region team. Cook led Union this season as a freshman with 332 kills.
