JACKSON, Tenn.- The Lady Bulldogs opened Gulf South Conference play at home in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium, falling to Montevallo in three sets (25-20, 25-15, 26-24).
Freshman Elizabeth Gilbert led the Lady Bulldogs in kills with a total of 9, followed by Sydney Davis and Carly Edwards, with 6 kills and 4 kills respectively.
Kylie Creech led in assists, collecting 18 along with 3 digs.
Elizabeth Gilbert also paced Union at the service line with 3 aces, followed by Sydney Davis, Carleigh Charles and Sarah-Kate Savage with 1 apiece.
Caileigh Collins and Sarah-Kate Savage tied for the team lead defensively with 5 digs each, while Gilbert added 6 of her own to go with her offensive night.
The third set proved the closest, with the Lady Bulldogs battling to a 24-24 tie before Montevallo pulled away for the 26-24 finish. Union will look to bounce back tomorrow taking on UAH, who sit with a record of 9-2.
