JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University volleyball team battled the University of Alabama in Huntsville in a four-set Gulf South Conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
After UAH took the opening set 25-15, the Lady Bulldogs responded by winning the second set 25-19. The Chargers took the third set 25-20 before Union fought closely in a 25-22 fourth set.
Elizabeth Gilbert led Union with 10 kills. Parker Goff and Carly Edwards added seven kills each, while Carleigh Charles recorded six kills and three blocks.
Kylie Creech led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 assists, while Avery Taylor added 10 assists and a team-high 10 digs. Sarah-Kate Savage and Caileigh Collins recorded nine digs each.
Union finished the match with 38 kills, 32 assists, six service aces, six blocks and 42 digs.
The Lady Bulldogs are now 4-9 overall and 0-2 in GSC play.
Union will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. against the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama.
