SEARCY, Ark. - The Union University baseball team lost 10-3 at Harding University Tuesday night in midweek non-conference play. Union dropped to 15-22 on the season, while Harding improved to 20-16 overall.
Union defeated Harding 15-7 at home back on March 3.
In Tuesday's road game at Harding, Union did all of its scoring in the third inning, getting three runs to tie the game at 3-3. Union used the long ball to get on the board.
Caden Walker hit a solo home run to left field. Then later in the inning,
Grant Ross stayed hot with a 2-run homer to right center to tie the game momentarily.
Harding used a 5-run sixth inning to break the tie and then added two more in the seventh to put the game away. Harding out hit Union 11-8, while Union committed two errors to just one from Harding.
Kylon Joyner and Ross led Union with two hits.
Jake Keyl added Union's third extra base hit of the ninth with a triple.
This was a staff game for Union with seven pitchers appearing in the game.
Chris Troyer started and went three innings with three runs, two earned, on five hits with a strikeout and a walk. Nathan Meyers tossed two shutout innings with one hit and one strikeout.
Garrett Telaga (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs, three earned over two-thirds of an inning on four hits.
Alex Johnson closed out the inning retiring the only batter he faced. TAkuma Sato tossed one inning, allowing two runs on 1 hits with two walks.
Eli Jackson pitched a perfect two-third, and
Cody Tjomsland pitch the final one-third, with one walk and fly out.
Union will be back on the road for the second weekend in a row, this time going to AUM Friday and Saturday for GSC action.
