MONTGOMERY, Ala.- After dropping the opener, Union bounced back in a big way to take two straight from Auburn University at Montgomery and secure the series on the road.
Game one saw the Bulldogs outhit AUM but struggle to limit big innings in a 9-2 loss. Union recorded 10 hits, including a late home run from Kylon Joyner, but a six-run fifth inning from AUM proved to be the difference . Despite early opportunities and consistent traffic on the bases, Union left 10 runners stranded and couldn't recover from the mid-game surge.
The response in game two flipped the momentum entirely. Union's offense came alive with eight runs on 10 hits, highlighted by home runs from Elijah Ramsey and Cody Tjomsland. After falling behind 5-3, the Bulldogs answered with a five-run stretch across the sixth through eighth innings to pull away for an 8-5 win . Cole Lannom delivered a strong relief outing, shutting down AUM over the final 4.2 innings to secure the victory.
Union carried that momentum into the series finale, jumping out early and holding off a late push to claim a 4-3 win. A three-run third inning provided the cushion, with Grant Ross driving in two and Cody Tjomsland adding another RBI knock . On the mound, Chris Troyer gave Union 5.1 solid innings before Lane Evans closed the door with a save, striking out three in the final 1.2 innings.
Across the final two games, Union showed resilience both at the plate and on the mound; outscoring AUM 12-8 and limiting late-inning opportunities. Timely hitting, shutdown relief pitching, and the ability to respond after game one ultimately powered the Bulldogs to a series victory.
The Bulldog return home for a midweek game against Lane College on Tuesday. It will also feature the Bulldog's senior night, highlighting the squad's 15 graduating seniors.
