JACKSON, Tenn. - The Union University baseball team was swept by Trevecca Nazarene University in a three-game series at Fesmire Field. Union dropped to 10-15 on the season and 4-11 in the Gulf South Conference. Trevecca improved to 20-6 overall and 13-2 in league play.
Trevecca won Friday night's series opener 14-5, and then swept the Saturday double header 15-4 adn 4-3.
Game 3 was the best game of the three. Union trailed 4-1, but rallied to cut the deficit to just 4-3. A run in the bottom of the six got Union to within one run, but the Bulldogs failed to score again, going three up three down in the bottom of the seventh.
Ethan Quinn led with two hits in game one, Dylan Barrett and
Cash Pinson led with two hits each in game two, while
Jordan Allen led with two hits in game three.
Grant Ross led with two RBI in game one, while Allen led with two RBI in game three.
Union struggled with walks on the mound and hitting with runners on base in the first two games. In the first two games, Union combined to walk 22 batters, hit five, while combining to leave 20 runners on base over the first two games.
Up next for Union will be a non-conference road trip to Ouachita Baptist University, Tuesday, March 17 at 3 p.m.
