ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Union University baseball earned a non-conference road win Tuesday at Ouachita Baptist University 5-3. Union improved to 11-15 on the season, while Ouachita Baptist dropped to 12-12.
Union jumped on top first and held on for the nine-inning victory.
Elijah Ramsey and
Grant Ross posted back-to-back RBI doubles to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. Union added an unearned run to make it 3-0 in the top of the first.
OBU added runs in the second and third to cut he deficit to 3-2. Union then added a run in the fifth on an RBI singe from
Caleb Davis.
Kylon Joyner tripped to put Union up 5-2 in the six. OBU added a run in the eighth get within two. That 5-3 score stood as the final.
Union treated this game as a staff game.
Cole Lannom earned the win, going two innings allowing one run on two hits, with a strikeout, and a walk.
Alex Johnson (one inning, one run),
Eli Jackson (two innings, no runs)
Corben Howard (one inning, no runs), and
Takuma Sato (two innings, one run) followed. Then,
Carter Daniel (1) tossed the final inning, earning his first save, with no runs, one hits, a strikeout and a walk.
Ramsey and Davis led Union with three hits each. Joyner, Ramsey, Ross, and Davis recorded one RBI each.
Up next for Union will be a weekend Gulf South Conference series at (RV) West Florida, Friday and Saturday, March 20-21.
