MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The Union University baseball team posted an 8-4 win over McKendree University Friday at USA Stadium. Union improved to 2-2 on the year, while McKendree dropped to 0-1. 

McKendree jumped out to the early lead thanks to a 3-run home run from Shuman in the second inning. Union got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second when Grant Ross scored.

The Bulldogs then tied the game in the third on a couple of ground-out RBI. The Bearcats posted their second homer of the night, this one from Sherman to go back up 4-3. 

Union's Canyon Pace tied the game in the fourth with a homer of his own. Union added two runs in the fifth and two runs in the seventh to go up 8-4. Caleb Davis had an RBI on a sacrifice fly, followed by a bases-loaded walk from Elijah Ramsey. The two late runs both came in on wild pitches. 

Union managed seven hits from seven different players. Davis led with two RBI. Carter Daniel earned the win with six innings of work, allowing five hits, four runs, with seven strikeouts and four walks. Cole Lannom earned the save with three innings of relief work. He allowed no runs or walks with six strikeouts and just two hits. 

The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at USA Stadium starting at 5 p.m.
