Union Battles Through Sunday Doubleheader at Gulf Shores Invitational

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Union continued its early-season slate at the Gulf Shores Invitational, competing against Rogers State in the morning and Saint Leo University in the afternoon.

Union opened the day in a tightly contested match-up with Rogers State, where pitching and defense took center stage. The Lady Bulldogs matched the Hillcats through four scoreless innings, showing composure on the field and consistency in the circle. Rogers State capitalized on a pair of unearned runs in the fifth, but Union never backed down and kept the game within reach until the final out.

Rylee Moore delivered an impressive performance, tossing six innings and striking out nine batters while allowing just two runs, neither earned. Offensively, Union was led by Courtney Marler, who recorded the team's lone hit.

The afternoon game against Saint Leo tested Union's resilience against a strong offensive lineup. Despite the final score, the Lady Bulldogs continued to compete inning by inning, battling through challenging situations and looking for opportunities to build momentum. Union collected three hits in the game, including two from Chloe Jones and one from Rylee Moore, while continuing to stay aggressive at the plate and on the bases.

Across both games, Union competed consistently, with solid pitching performances and dependable defensive play. The Lady Bulldogs will look to build on those efforts as they continue their early spring schedule.

Union returns to action next weekend as the team travels to the Chattanooga Invitational.
