JACKSON, Tenn- Union Men's Soccer faced off against Mississippi College. Following the match, the Bulldogs left with a 1-3-3 record (1-2 in the GSC), and the Choctaws with a 3-1-4 record (2-0-2 in the GSC).
Scoring opened up in the first 4 minutes with a Choctaws goal by Russell Berko, the leading goal scorer for Mississippi College. He followed this up with another goal in the 16
th minute.Â
The Choctaws did not let off the gas, finding the back of the net in the 27
th minute and the 33
rd minute. Goals where scored by Alvaro Pena and Benjamin Ellis respectively.
This concluded the first half, and scoring for Mississippi College.
In the second half, Union was able to avoid a Choctaw shutout with a goal from
Luca Pereira, with an assist by
Noel Pataki.
Union actually out shot Mississippi College 18-14 with 11 of those being on frame.
Luca Pereira had 4 SOG, followed by
Noel Pataki and
Daniel Dixon with 2 apiece.
Fouls were balanced for the day, with Union claiming 9 and Mississippi College claiming 10. Four yellow cards went out, two to Bulldogs (
Rich Rokodi-Phelps,
Lawson Harvey), and two to Choctaws (Gage Sorey, Aimar Calomarde).
Next, the squad will go on the road for a non-conference match up against Mission University (10/4).
