HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - On Apr. 4-5, the Union University softball team played a three-game series with the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The series was originally supposed to be played in Jackson, Tenn., but due to inclement weather, it was moved to Huntsville, Ala., with Union remaining the home team. UAH took all three games by scores of 9-1, 7-1, and 5-1, respectively. With the losses, Union drops to 8-32 overall (5-18 GSC), while the Chargers improve to 22-17 overall (14-9 GSC).
Rylee Moore had a hit in each game, going 3-7 in the series with both an RBI and a walk in game one.
Morgan Jennings also had a nice series with three hits in 10 at bats.
Cassidy Goddard and
Courtney Marler each had one RBI with Goddard's coming in game two and Marler's in game three.
All four Union pitchers saw time in the circle in the series.
Rylee Moore started game one and pitched 3.2 innings before giving way to
Riley Vaughn in relief.
Emily Claire Felder got the start in game two and struck out five Chargers in 6.1 innings with
Kira Finkley recording the last two outs. Finkley was the starting pitcher for game three and went three innings with two strikeouts. Vaughn followed with her second relief appearance of the weekend, throwing four innings and striking out five.
Up next, the Lady Bulldogs return home for a three-game set with No. 5 Auburn University Montgomery. Game one is scheduled for Apr. 11 at 5:00 p.m, and a doubleheader will be played Apr. 12 starting at 12:00 p.m.
