Baseball sweeps AUM for third-straight series win

The Bulldogs outscored the Warhawks 32-7 and have won seven of nine

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team run-ruled Auburn Montgomery 13-3 on Friday evening and 16-2 on Saturday afternoon before completing the team's first GSC series sweep since April 2022 with a walk-off, 3-2 win in the series finale.

The dominant sweep follows 2-1 series wins over West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville, and Union has won three straight GSC sets for the first time in school history, along with seven of the last nine conference contests. Union (18-23, 12-14) moved into seventh place in the GSC, just ahead of UWA and Trevecca, both 12-15.

Union's starters–Eli Snelson, Carter Daniel, and Lane Evans–threw two complete games and three quality starts, combining for 20.1 innings and just five earned runs in a stingy effort. Briant Bazydlo, the only Bulldog pitcher to appear in relief, struck out the two Warhawks he faced in a 2-2 game three seventh inning and was credited with the win after Union's bottom-seven victory.

Canyon Pace reached on a pristine bunt into no-man's land on the left side of the infield and advanced to second on a fielder's choice. Matthew Autry, now running for Pace, stole third and was driven in by a Colby Davis line-drive hit to the third baseman.

In a similar fashion, Union walked off in game one, too, after increasing its lead to 10 after six-and-a-half complete innings when Grant Ross's single plated Dyllon Barrett from third base. The middle game was never close: Union scored three in the first and eight in the fourth–a multi-double fourth for Elijah Ramsey–and rendered all four AUM hurlers ineffective.

Redshirt freshman Hudson Cepparulo finished the weekend 6-10 with his seventh collegiate double and third triple, while Carson Chavies extended his on-base streak to 29 games. Other notable ledgers included those of Dyllon Barrett (9-16, three BB, two HBP, 11 runs), Caleb Davis (7-11, two BB), and Grant Ross (6-13, three BB, three HBP).

Union has allowed three or fewer runs eight times in 2025 and remains 8-0 in such games. The Bulldogs are 11-1 when conceding six or fewer hits, which they accomplished in games two and three.

Union will face Harding University in a 2:00 p.m. road doubleheader on Tuesday before traveling to Montevallo for the season's penultimate GSC set.
